In the consultation room, we often receive the question, "Is there a procedure to smooth out Indian band wrinkles?"

However, when I hear this question, I first look at the area above the cheekbones.

This is because, in many cases, it's not a problem of smoothing wrinkles but rather a problem of filling in sunken areas.

This is why the approach to Indian bands can differ even for the same concern.

Please take just one minute to read this.

Why it's not solved by treating it as a wrinkle

An Indian band is less a line etched into the skin and more a boundary of height difference caused by the volume above the cheekbone sinking.

The area above the cheekbone is structured with muscles and ligaments supporting the skin.

As we age, the fat and collagen beneath decrease, and the front of the cheekbone gradually sags.

This then reveals a boundary between the upper area, which still has volume, and the sunken lower area.

This is an Indian band.

If the cause is a sunken area, the solution should also be to fill it.

If approached only by treating the surface, the boundary line may remain even after the procedure is completed.

Two ways to fill

There are broadly two ways to fill sunken areas.

CategoryImmediate Filling MethodCollagen-Stimulating Filling Method
PrincipleInjecting a substance to fill the areaInducing the skin to produce its own collagen
Time of ChangeImmediately after injectionGradually over about 1 month
Suitable RangeNarrow and deeply sunken areasBroad areas with gentle sagging
ImpressionClearly filledGradually softened

An Indian band is not a single sunken point but rather an area where the surface has gently sagged.

Therefore, for cases requiring natural elevation of a broad area, collagen booster types are also considered.

Juvelook Volume works by injecting high-molecular PDLLA components to induce the skin to produce its own collagen.

The principle is not to fill the area with a substance, but to help the skin itself in the sunken area to plump up.

(※ The effectiveness and response may vary depending on the individual's skin condition, and the suitability of the procedure is determined through consultation with medical staff.)

Why not fill it all at once

Juvelook Volume does not show noticeable changes immediately after injection; instead, it gradually rises over about a month as new collagen is produced.

This characteristic also changes the treatment approach.

It is recommended to build it up in several sessions rather than injecting a large amount at once.

This is because adjusting the final height is possible only by allowing time for collagen to generate and then adding more on top.

If filled all at once, it might look right now, but a few weeks later, with added collagen, it could become excessive beyond the intention.

It's similar to plastering a building wall, where you apply thin layers multiple times instead of one thick coat.

Where to fill first is key

It's easy to misjudge if you only look at the Indian band in isolation.

Often, the side cheeks, temples, and front cheekbones are sunken together, so filling only one boundary line can create a height mismatch with the surroundings, making it even more prominent.

Therefore, during consultation, three things are checked first:

  • Which areas are sunken and to what extent
  • Where to start filling for overall balance
  • How many sessions to divide the treatment into

Establishing this sequence before starting helps achieve results that align with your facial structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't Lifting & Tightening alone effectively remove Indian bands?

Indian bands are not surface wrinkles but rather boundary lines formed by the volume above the cheekbones sinking. With only a pulling-up method, the height difference itself may remain, and the boundary line could still be visible.

When do changes from Juvelook Volume become visible?

Changes are not immediate after injection; instead, they gradually appear over about a month as new collagen is produced. The timing and extent of appearance may vary depending on the individual's skin condition.

Can I have the entire procedure done in one session?

Since collagen continues to generate after the procedure, injecting a large amount at once could lead to an excessive result a few weeks later. It is safer to build it up in stages to adjust the final height.

Can I only fill the Indian band?

Often, the side cheeks or temples are also sunken, so filling only the boundary line could create a height mismatch with the surroundings, making it more prominent. A process of determining the sequence based on overall balance is necessary.

What reactions might occur after the procedure?

Temporary bruising, swelling, or a foreign body sensation may appear. The degree and duration vary by individual, and it is necessary to confirm your condition during a pre-procedure consultation.

Recovery and Downtime: Observing the Gradual Progress of the Procedure

Bruising or swelling may remain at the injection site for a few days.

It is important not to judge the results based on how it looks during this initial period.

Initially, the volume may appear due to swelling, then it may seem to sink again as the swelling subsides, and subsequently, it rises as collagen fills in.

Without understanding this progression, it's easy to conclude "there's no effect" by the second week.

It is more accurate to observe the progress on a monthly basis.

How the Cost is Structured

The cost of a volume procedure is not determined by the product volume alone.

The structure varies depending on how many areas are sunken, what range is covered in one session, and how many sessions it will be divided into.

Whether pre-procedure skin measurement or post-procedure care is included also affects the cost.

Even with the same volume, the cost can differ based on the treatment plan, so it is more accurate to provide the exact cost after a consultation to assess the extent of the sunken areas.
